BYD, the Chinese automotive group, has released exciting new information about its upcoming luxury and high-performance electric vehicle (EV), the YangWang U9. One of the key features of this EV is its innovative Disus suspension system, which the company claims is “the most advanced vehicle body control system of the industry globally.”

The Disus suspension setup comprises several different categories, including Disus-C, Disus-A, and Disus-P, all of which aim to improve the driving experience. The Disus-X branch, which features in the videos below, adds the ability to dance, jump, and even drive on three wheels. The Disus suspension system underwent over 30 months and 6 million miles (10 million kilometers) of endurance testing and is set to roll out across BYD’s extensive portfolio.

The BYD YangWang U6 supercar has four electric motors that enable it to reach 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in under two seconds, and it boasts a driving range of up to 435 miles (700 kilometers) thanks to BYD’s Yisigang EV platform. The Disus suspension system can make the entire car jump a few inches off the ground, and it enables the electric supercar to drive without one wheel attached, similar to the hydropneumatic suspension of the 1960s Citroen DS.

BYD has already produced models with compatible hardware ready to receive new Disus features via an over-the-air software update. The Chinese automaker also previewed the all-electric off-roader U8, which can allegedly drive at up to 75 mph (120 kph) even if it has a flat tire. It seems that BYD has something even better in store for its customers with the new Disus suspension system.
