In the realm of aesthetics, the front profile of this test vehicle mirrors the Multivan T7, Volkswagen’s passenger van anchored on its MQB platform. A shared front fascia with the T7 is apparent, yet the sidelines and the rear end draw inspiration from the recently unveiled Transit Custom. Notably, the vertical taillights at the rear, while akin to the Ford van, exhibit distinctive internal graphics.

The symmetry in design is no happenstance, as the foundation and powertrains for the Transporter will be courtesy of the Blue Oval company. The Transit Custom offers an array of diesel engines spanning 109 horsepower (81 kilowatts) to 168 hp (125 kW). For those inclined towards a plug-in variant, the PHEV version boasts a 2.5-liter gasoline engine on the Atkinson cycle, an electric motor, and an 11.8-kWh battery.

Looking ahead, an all-electric iteration is in the pipeline, sharing its powertrain with the E-Transit Custom. With options for 135 hp (100 kW) or 217 hp (160 kW), both variants flaunt a 74-kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-certified range of up to 236 miles (380 kilometers) on a single charge. Notably, the battery supports rapid DC charging at up to 125 kilowatts.

A distinctive feature of this prototype is its evident foray into electrification, evident in the conspicuous yellow stickers adorning the hood and rear hatch.
