Theon Design is a company that specializes in the creation of Porsche 911 restomods. Recently, the company unveiled its latest project, the ITA001 commission, which was built for a customer based in Milan.

The ITA001 may look like a 911 from the 1970s, but it is actually based on a 964-generation Carrera 4 coupe from the early 1990s. Theon Design replaced the car’s body panels with lightweight carbon-fiber pieces while keeping the original appearance intact. As a result, the car’s wet weight is a svelte 2,540 pounds (1,152 kilograms).

Under the hood, the ITA001 is powered by a 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six engine that produces 400 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 315 pound-feet of torque at 6,250 rpm. The engine features independent throttle bodies and a drive-by-wire throttle, with the intake plenum based on the one from a 997-generation 911 GT3. The exhaust system has a ceramic coating.

Unlike the donor vehicle, which was an all-wheel-drive Carrera 4, the ITA001 is a rear-wheel-drive car. It uses a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, and brakes from a 993-generation 911 RS. To modernize the car, Theon Design has added dual air-conditioning compressors and an electric power steering pump.

The ITA001 also features five-stage adaptive dampers and a nose-lift system, while the wheels are 18-inch Fuchs design with a champagne finish. Inside the cabin, the buyer can choose comfortable “touring” seats that can carry up to four occupants in a pinch. The upholstery is made of brown, tobacco-colored leather, and the dashboard features a wireless charging slot for a phone. The six-speaker Focal stereo system supports Bluetooth.

The cost of a Porsche 911 restomod from Theon Design starts at $465,105 (£380,000), not including the donor car or shipping. Each build is unique and tailored to the customer’s specifications. The assembly process takes around 18 months to complete.

Other projects from Theon Design include the BELL001, built for a buyer in Belgium, which features a supercharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine and a five-speed manual gearbox, and the purple CHI001, which uses a 4.0-liter flat-six engine and a six-speed manual from the 993-generation 911.
