Alfa Romeo just snorted a line of espresso and decided to go full-blown drama queen. To celebrate the end of the gas-guzzling good times (at least for the US), they’re releasing a special edition Quadrifoglio – the Super Sport – for both the Giulia and Stelvio.

Quadrifoglio Super Sport: Not Your Average “Special Edition”

This ain’t your grandpa’s slapped-on-aero, glue-some-stripes-on special edition. Alfa Romeo’s throwing a whole party here. First off, they’re messing with the sacred cloverleaf badge – it’s got a black background for the first time in over a century. Bold move, Alfa. Let’s see how the purists react in the comments.

Inside, things get luxurious (Alfa Romeo fancy, not Bentley butler kind of fancy) with a red carbon fiber trim party happening on the dash, console, and doors. The headrests get all red-stitched and black-numbered, just to remind you that this ain’t your average grocery-getter Giulia or Stelvio.

Still a Bonkers Performer

No word on how many of these Super Sports they’re actually making, but Alfa says it’ll be limited. Performance-wise, they haven’t messed with the glorious (and slightly terrifying) 2.9L twin-turbo V6. This thing is still a beast on the track, handling like a dream and looking like it showed up to a knife fight with a katana.

So Long, Gas-Powered Alfa?

This Super Sport isn’t just a victory lap for the V6, it’s a two-finger salute to the good ol’ days of internal combustion. Alfa Romeo is going electric, folks. They’re promising “amazing performance benefits” from their new battery-powered rides, but can they capture that same Italian je ne sais quoi with a silent engine?  Only time will tell.
