Latest Update: 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Activ arrived in January 2024, around the price of $35,000.
Meet the 2025 rendition of the Chevrolet Equinox, a true icon in the realm of bow-tie SUVs. Unveiling a captivating new aesthetic for the upcoming model year, this best-seller goes beyond mere surface changes. Positioned as a next-gen model, the 2025 Equinox stands as a significant refresh, featuring a modified platform that extends its width by 2.3 inches, accompanied by a host of updates including the introduction of the rugged-themed Activ trim.
Our first glimpse of this revamped Equinox occurred inadvertently in June 2023, during its reveal for the Chinese market. The SUV now embraces Chevy’s bold and upright design language, reminiscent of the Traverse and Trailblazer. Thin running lamps gracefully crown light clusters on either side of a predominantly rectangular grille. The forward-canted C-pillar, a signature Equinox feature, remains but is accentuated with a floating roof motif. The taillights adopt a sleeker, sharper profile, imparting a distinctly edgy character to the new Equinox.
Step inside, and a fresh interior layout awaits. In line with the Trailblazer, the Equinox boasts a spacious dual-screen setup, featuring an 11-inch driver display and an 11.3-inch infotainment display. Rather than being integrated into a single screen, these displays are strategically mounted together, creating a thoroughly modern and digital ambiance. The traditional shift stalk in the console makes way for a column-mounted electronic lever, though aficionados of tactile controls will find comfort in the presence of familiar buttons for climate settings and standard heated seats.
Chevrolet leaves no room for compromise when it comes to safety and driver-assist features. The Chevy Safety Assist suite is generously equipped, encompassing enhanced lane-keep assist, auto emergency braking with collision alert, pedestrian/bicyclist braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert with auto braking, lane-change alert, a rear camera, and more. Gone are the days when such features were confined to pricey optional packages.
Turning our attention to trim levels, the highlight for 2025 is the introduction of the Equinox Activ. This rugged-themed variant, a familiar sight on other SUV models, showcases black trim accents, a distinctive fascia, and 17-inch wheels donning all-terrain tires. Inside the Activ, discover Evotex material with “sueded microfiber seating surfaces.”
Under the hood, all trims share a common powerhouse: a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive models feature a CVT with max torque tuned to 184 pound-feet, while all-wheel-drive versions boast an eight-speed automatic with 203 lb-ft of twist. For those opting for the RS and Activ trims, a mode-selector dial on the center console offers the flexibility to switch between Normal, Snow, and Off-Road drive modes, with Off-Road exclusively available on AWD models.
Phil Zak, executive design director at Chevrolet, encapsulates the essence of this new Equinox generation, stating, “This generation of Equinox has taken on a broad-shouldered, athletic appearance that conveys confidence and versatility. We leaned into distinct appearances and material selection for LT, RS, and Activ so everyone can see themselves in an Equinox.” Embrace the confident and versatile evolution of the Equinox with its bold design and advanced features in the 2025 model year.
