Cupra is in the process of refreshing Forementor, and these spy shots offer a glimpse of what’s to come. The development vehicle seen here is being put through its paces on the streets around the Nürburgring track.

The bulk of the camouflage is concentrated on the front of the vehicle, covering up the alterations to the lower fascia. The existing complex shape is obscured, but the outer edges still seem to feature air curtains. The headlights appear to be unchanged in size, but the graphics inside have been modified. The running lamps now appear to have vertical elements instead of the present triangular illumination.

It looks like the hood may have a smoother shape than the existing Formentor, but the camouflage might be hiding some creases. The flanks of the car have not been altered, and at the back, there is only a square piece of camouflage that seems to hide the Cupra badge and name on the tail.

There is no camouflage visible in the interior, which can be glimpsed through the windows. The current tablet-style infotainment display remains unchanged, but there might be some software updates to enhance its features.

The current Formentor is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 306 horsepower, as well as a plug-in hybrid that combines a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and an output of 241 hp. There is no word yet on whether Cupra intends to make any changes to these options.

It’s uncertain when the refreshed Formentor will arrive, as the current model is still relatively new. Cupra had great success with the Formentor, with sales of around 97,600 units last year, accounting for 63.8 percent of the brand’s volume.
