With the unveiling of the Tavascan concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019, Cupra made it clear that it would produce an electric crossover. The Spanish brand announced its intention to introduce a production version in 2024 in March 2021. During the Unstoppable Impulse event that the company hosted in June of that year, the road-going model was briefly introduced to the audience. The prototype that was discovered this week in northern Sweden appears to have the final lights and the entire production body. Although it does not appear to be as sleek as the concept, it does appear to be less bulbous than the mechanically related VW ID.5 GTX and Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV. We are getting the impression that it is a little smaller than its two MEB-based siblings and rides on the same turbine-styled wheels as the concept, although we are unsure whether they are the same size (22 inches). The factory will begin serial production in the second half of 2023 and has a capacity of 350,000 electric vehicles per year.

The Terramar will join the Cupra lineup in 2024, so the Tavascan isn’t the only new model. It is anticipated to be the last new model from the brand with a combustion engine.
