The Fiat Seicento has returned, and it’s ready to make a statement. After a 13-year absence, this small car with a big personality has undergone a complete transformation. Don’t be fooled by the familiar name, though, because the new 600 is a whole new breed. The three-door hatchback design has been traded in for a more practical five-door crossover body style, signaling a shift towards versatility and functionality. It’s not just a Fiat affair either, as the Jeep Avenger and an Alfa Romeo counterpart will share the same e-CMP2 platform developed by Stellantis, set to debut in 2024.

Stretching 4.17 meters (164.1 inches) in length, the reborn Fiat Seicento boasts some striking features, including the option for wheels as large as 18 inches. With a quick glance, you’ll notice the undeniable resemblance to its smaller sibling, the iconic Fiat 500. The prominent “600” logo takes center stage, while the absence of a Fiat badge at the front leaves the company’s name exclusively on the tailgate. The overall design approach mirrors that of MINI, drawing inspiration from the Countryman’s expansion beyond the original Cooper hatchback.

Fiat proudly presents a spacious interior, with 360 liters (12.7 cubic feet) of cargo volume when the rear seats are in place. Additionally, clever storage compartments within the cabin contribute an extra 15 liters (0.5 cubic feet) of storage space. This new iteration of the 600 comfortably seats five passengers and promises a range of over 400 kilometers (249 miles) in the WLTP combined cycle, thanks to its 54-kWh battery pack. For city driving, the range extends to more than 600 kilometers (373 miles), providing ample power for daily commuting.

When the battery runs low, fear not, as it can be recharged at a rapid rate of up to 100 kW. In just under half an hour, the battery can be replenished to 80 percent, ensuring minimal downtime during long journeys. The electric motor generates a respectable 154 horsepower (115 kW), propelling the car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a swift nine seconds. Positioned as the big sister of the Fiat 500e, this new crossover will also offer a hybrid powertrain starting in mid-2024.

The interior of the Fiat 600 takes inspiration from its hatchback sibling, boasting modern features and thoughtful details. A seven-inch digital instrument cluster provides vital information, while a generous 10.25-inch infotainment display takes center stage. The audio experience is elevated by a six-speaker sound system. Fiat sweetens the deal by including an electric tailgate, automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, and rain and light sensors, all aimed at enhancing convenience and comfort.

In Italy, the new 600 in its pure electric form starts at €35,950 for the Red version, while the fully-loaded La Prima variant with all the bells and whistles commands a price of €40,950. Production is set to commence this month at the Tychy plant in Poland, which will also be responsible for manufacturing the Jeep Avenger. While the Avenger has been showcased in an all-wheel-drive concept, the Fiat 600 will remain strictly front-wheel-drive, catering to the needs of urban and suburban driving enthusiasts.
