Lamborghini is introducing the Invencible and Autentica duo, proving that a pure V12 engine isn’t obsolete just yet. The Invencible is a coupe and the Autentica is a roadster, both built upon the durable Aventador platform that debuted a full 12 years ago.
These latest models are a nod to Lamborghini’s past, showcasing styling elements from the Reventon and Veneno. The hood design is borrowed from the Essenza SCV12, a track-only monster that boasts a 6.5-liter engine with 818 horsepower. The Invencible and Autentica serve as the final farewell to the V12 engine before Lamborghini dives into the hybrid era.
Lamborghini’s final hurrah for the classic V12 engine is embodied in the Invencible and Autentica duo, a nod to the iconic Sesto Elemento with a focus on lightweight design and a bold rear wing. These unique coupe and roadster models boast a full carbon fiber body with Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal theme.
The Invencible is decked out in a vibrant Rosso Efesto while the Autentica sports a sleek Grigio Titans exterior. The minimalist dashboard inside shuns the conventional infotainment system, instead opting for cutting-edge 3D-printed air vents. These cars are not only a farewell to an era but a testament to Lamborghini’s innovative spirit and commitment to engineering excellence.
Lamborghini has made a splash with the Invencible and Autentica, two unique cars that feature the most powerful iteration of the classic V12 engine ever put into a road-worthy car by the automaker. Like the Ultimae, these cars boast a mid-mounted naturally aspirated engine that generates an impressive 769 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque, all channeled through an all-wheel-drive system via a 7-speed ISR gearbox.
While performance figures haven’t been officially disclosed, it’s expected that the Invencible and Autentica will mirror the Ultimae’s 2.8-second 0 to 62 mph acceleration and 220 mph top speed. The exact cost of these one-of-a-kind cars is unknown, but it’s safe to say that they carry a premium far exceeding the $500,000 price tag of the Ultimae.
The Invencible and Autentica mark the end of the Aventador line, as a new V12-powered hybrid vehicle is set to be revealed in the first quarter of 2023. Lamborghini’s electrified future also includes a plug-in hybrid Urus and a partially electrified Huracan successor. While the company plans to introduce an EV in 2028, the tech is not yet advanced enough to support high-performance applications, according to Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer.
