The LB744 will be powered by a brand new naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, which has been rotated by 180 degrees for optimal performance. This impressive powerplant produces a whopping 813 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 535 pound-feet of torque at 6,750 rpm, making it significantly more potent than its predecessor. In fact, it nearly matches the power output of the track-only Essenza SCV12, which has 818 horsepower.

However, the V12 engine is just one part of the story. The LB744 will also be equipped with a hybrid setup, featuring two electric motors that drive the front axle and a third motor that can send power to the rear wheels depending on driving conditions. When combined with the V12 engine, this hybrid powertrain offers a total output of 1,000 horsepower.

To accommodate the hybrid components, Lamborghini has installed a lithium-ion battery in the central tunnel and a third electric motor above the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The transmission, which is lighter than that of the Huracan, also changes gears more quickly. The LB744 will be equipped with all-wheel drive, but can operate as a front-wheel-drive EV when in reverse, and in all-wheel-drive electric mode depending on the driving conditions.

Lamborghini has already released a hybrid model, the Sián FKP 37, but the LB744 represents a significant step forward, featuring a plug-in hybrid system with pouch cells.
