Latest Update: 2023 Lotus Emira launched in July 2023, around the price range of $105,400.
this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed as Lotus gears up to deliver an unforgettable show. With their largest stand ever, Lotus will be stealing the spotlight with the grand debut of the Emira, a four-cylinder marvel. Not stopping there, they have also enlisted a fleet of Lotus cars to conquer the hill climb course, promising an exhilarating spectacle for attendees.
While the Emira, powered by a Mercedes-AMG four-cylinder engine, is set to hit the roads later this year, those eagerly anticipating the First Edition models in the US will have to exercise some patience until early 2024. Unveiled two years ago, this captivating vehicle presents two powertrain options: a Toyota-sourced supercharged V6 and a turbocharged four-cylinder from AMG, generating 400 and 360 horsepower, respectively.
Positioned as Lotus’ final combustion-powered offering, the Emira adeptly fills the void created by the retirement of the Elise, Exige, and Evora models. Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, this beastly car can catapult from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a breathtaking 4.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 180 mph.
Scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2023, the V6-powered Emira First Edition will be subject to certain transmission limitations. With an automatic gearbox, the top speed is restricted to 169 mph, taking a respectable 4.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. On the other hand, the manual version breaks free from such restraints, achieving an impressive 180 mph top speed and sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in a scorching 4.2 seconds. For those seeking this powerhouse, the Emira V6 First Edition will be available for purchase starting at $105,400 (excluding the destination charge).
Joining the Emira in the festival’s lineup are the Eletre and Evija models, each poised to captivate onlookers. The quartet of Lotus marvels, including the two Emira variations, will participate in the highly anticipated hill climb event throughout the weekend. While deliveries of the electric crossover, the Eletre, are imminent in the UK and Europe, the Emira and Eletre will also be on proud display at the event’s First Look Paddock.
Lotus is leaving no stone unturned as it undertakes a comprehensive overhaul of its vehicle lineup, and Goodwood serves as the ideal stage to showcase its progress. As the automotive industry navigates the electric vehicle era, Lotus is diligently expanding its portfolio, with the upcoming Type 133 electric sedan already making waves as it undergoes rigorous testing, captured by our sharp-eyed spy photographers. Rumor has it that this electrifying sedan will boast an astounding 905 horsepower, akin to the mighty Eletre R.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed has established itself as a premier venue for automakers to unveil new cars and visionary concepts, and this year’s edition promises no less. From the much-anticipated Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to the captivating Caterham Project V, an array of surprises awaits. Lamborghini will take the stage with the debut of its LMDh race car, while the AIM EV Sport 01 concept, unveiled earlier this week, will take on the thrilling hill climb challenge, leaving spectators in awe.
