Latest Update: 2025 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore EV has confirmed to launch in late 2024.
Confirming the speculations circulating last week regarding the delayed development of the Quattroporte Folgore, Maserati is shedding more light on its electric vehicle (EV) roadmap. Officially announced now is the plan to launch the electric version of the sedan in 2028, with a series of other electrified offerings set to hit the market prior to that milestone.
Taking the lead in this electrifying journey is the GranCabrio Folgore, anticipated to make its debut later this year, closely trailing the release of its traditional internal combustion engine counterpart. Maserati’s commitment to electrification transcends the immediate horizon, with a zero-emissions iteration of the MC20 scheduled for 2025. Following suit is a grand entrance in the form of a sizable electric SUV, possibly a BEV version of the Levante, expected in 2027, paving the way for the Quattroporte Folgore’s arrival in 2028. Maserati proudly labels all these forthcoming models as products entirely conceived, developed, and crafted in Italy.
Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO, expresses the brand’s commitment, stating, “Driven by our Modena heart, we are going full throttle to lead change on electrification, with two of our iconic models already available for purchase in their 100 percent electric versions, and another on the way this year. We will offer our preferred customers the most powerful Maseratis ever, pushing the boundaries of driving pleasure to a new era.”
The two electric models Grasso mentions are the GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore, both presently available for purchase in the European Union. Maserati, a member of the Stellantis family, proudly stands as the first Italian luxury brand to focus extensively on the development and production of all-electric vehicles. Notably, the company has been actively participating in Formula E since 2023.
Despite these electrifying prospects, Maserati faces a temporary setback. Stellantis is reportedly initiating a temporary layoff of 1,000 production workers at the Mirafiori factory in Turin, Italy, from February 12 to March 3. This facility plays a crucial role in the production of models like the Quattroporte and other Maserati vehicles.
