The Peugeot Inception concept, unveiled at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, is a stylish new sedan that gives a sneak peek at the design elements of the upcoming STLA Large platform from Stellantis. The platform, which is intended to support the production of large vehicles, could potentially be used for some of the most impressive models in Peugeot’s lineup. The Inception concept car is five meters long and Peugeot plans to carry over its design to the entire range starting in 2025, including the smallest vehicles in the lineup. The concept is powered by a 100 kWh 800V battery that Peugeot claims can give it a range of 497 miles. It features two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, providing all-wheel drive and a combined output of nearly 670 horsepower. The Inception is also capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds. Peugeot claims that the car can charge up to 18 miles per minute, with a charging speed of 225 kW. The concept also features wireless charging, though no speed estimates have been provided. The exterior of the Inception features a “feline stance” with vertical three-bar running lights at the front and a blanked-off grille that houses the sensors for the vehicle’s driver assistance systems. The back of the car features similar taillights behind a smooth glass panel. 

The interior of the Inception includes the latest version of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit setup, including the Hypersquare steering wheel with touch controls in its four corners and the STLA Smart Cockpit software platform which emphasizes voice, gesture, and touch inputs. The car also has Level 4 autonomous driving capability, provided by Stellantis’s STLA AutoDrive technology. The Inception’s smart glazing, with 7.25 square meters of special glass with improved thermal properties and iridescent reflections, is unlikely to appear in this form on any future production models. However, other technological capabilities of the concept, such as the Tech Bar on the doors and the artificial intelligence system that can recognize the driver and adjust the car’s settings accordingly, could potentially be included in future production models. Peugeot plans to release the Hypersquare in one of its production models by 2026.
