The 2018 Geneva Motor Show witnessed the grand debut of the third-generation Peugeot Partner, alongside its sibling, the Citroen Berlingo. These two French vans, which also go by the name Opel Combo in certain markets, took the stage by storm. Later on, the Toyota ProAce and Fiat Doblo joined the party, all sharing the EMP2 platform inherited by Stellantis from the PSA era. Now, the time has come for a mid-cycle refresh for this remarkable family of passenger and cargo vans, collectively known as the K9 range.
Behold the images in the gallery below, showcasing the cargo version of Peugeot’s K9 lineup, the Peugeot Partner. Also making an appearance is the Opel Combo Life, a passenger van hailing from Germany. Just last month, we managed to catch a glimpse of this intriguing model. Although these vans possess their own unique identities, such as the Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo, and Toyota ProAce, they boast an almost indistinguishable design, with the only variance found in their front fascias.
Upon closer inspection of the photos, one can discern that the facelift brings forth subtle changes. The prototypes sport a cloak of camouflage foil, hinting at concealed styling tweaks underneath. We can safely assume that each model will receive modifications tailored to reflect the design philosophy of its respective brand. While details remain elusive for now, the Opel test vehicle may flaunt upgraded lighting technology.
While the K9 family continues to offer combustion engines, such as the market-dependent 1.2-liter turbo gas mill and 1.5-liter diesel, there are early signs that Stellantis has grander plans in store – a complete switch to fully electric power for these vans. The vehicles captured in the gallery are powered by batteries, and it’s worth mentioning that Citroen, Peugeot, and Opel now exclusively sell the passenger versions as zero-emissions models. It is quite possible that this strategy will extend to the cargo models as well.
Speaking of the K9 family’s electric vehicles, substantial upgrades may lie beneath the surface. The current 50 kWh battery could be replaced with a larger 54 kWh pack, reminiscent of the refreshed Peugeot 2008. Additionally, the 136-hp electric motor might receive a boost, making way for the new and more potent 156-hp unit.’
