Renault unveiled its highly anticipated flagship vehicle, the Renault Rafale, at the Paris Air Show. As a tribute to aviation, the Rafale combines sleek design and advanced technology. This coupe-style SUV, built on the same platform as the Austral, stands out with its unique body panels and is exclusively offered with E-Tech hybrid powertrains.

With dimensions of 4.71 m (185.4 inches) in length, 1.86 m (73.2 inches) in width, and 1.61 m (63.4 inches) in height, the Rafale fits into the midsize D-SUV segment. It shares similarities with the seven-seater Espace, having only a slightly shorter length and an identical wheelbase of 2.74 m (107.9 inches).

The Rafale represents Renault’s new design language, led by Gilles Vidal, the former design chief at Peugeot. Noteworthy exterior features include arrow-shaped LED DRLs, Peugeot-style LED headlights, and a grille with an aerodynamically optimized pattern that mimics Renault’s diamond emblem. The sport seats of the Espirit Alpine trim feature Alcantara upholstery with tri-color stitching and illuminated Alpine emblems on the seatbacks. The dashboard inserts are made of dyed cork and slate, complemented by clever ambient lighting that adjusts based on the time of day.

A standout feature is the Solarbay panoramic glass roof, which can darken or lighten according to passenger preferences. Despite the coupe-like roofline, rear passengers enjoy ample headroom and generous knee room due to the long wheelbase. The Rafale offers a spacious boot with a capacity of 647 liters (22.8 cubic feet), comparable to the five-seater version of the Espace.

The Renault Rafale is equipped with an advanced suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), providing Level 2 autonomy across different road types. As a hybrid-only model, it features Renault’s efficient and powerful E-Tech powertrains.
