Europe welcomes the return of the Renault Scenic, and this time it’s making a grand entrance as an electric vehicle under the E-Tech model. The anticipation builds as these recently captured spy shots offer us a tantalizing glimpse into the development of this exciting new vehicle.
Renault’s engineering wizards have cloaked the exterior of the Scenic E-Tech in a clever camouflage wrap, effectively obscuring its true form. Blocky panels further distort the body’s appearance, keeping us guessing and heightening our curiosity. Nevertheless, we can discern some intriguing details. The front end showcases a sleek nose, accentuated by a trapezoidal inlet in the lower portion, injecting a touch of modernity into the vehicle’s visage. Slender headlights gracefully border the hood, lending an air of sophistication.
When it comes to the side profile, the Scenic E-Tech proudly displays its short overhangs at both ends, exuding a sense of agility and purpose. The C-pillar, stylishly angled, ensures that the rear of the vehicle avoids the pitfalls of looking overly boxy. A tantalizing spoiler playfully perches over the rear window, hinting at the aerodynamic prowess that lies within.
Alas, the rear of the Scenic E-Tech remains an enigma, shrouded in heavy camouflage that conceals its secrets. Only the faintest outline of the taillights manages to peek through, leaving us yearning for more.
Regrettably, the photos fail to provide a glimpse into the cabin, leaving us to wonder about the treasures that await within.
The styling of the Scenic E-Tech bears a striking resemblance to the visionary 2022 Renault Scenic Vision concept (viewable in the captivating gallery below). In this conceptual iteration, bolder creases adorned the vehicle, distinguishing it from the version captured in these clandestine spy shots. Whereas previous Scenic models comfortably fit within Europe’s MPV segment, the concept veered towards a more crossover-like design, pushing the boundaries of convention.
Drawing inspiration from the Megane E-Tech, the concept boasted a robust 215-horsepower electric motor and a generous 40-kilowatt-hour battery. To further enhance its capabilities, a 16-kW hydrogen fuel cell resided beneath the floor, providing a convenient range-extending solution for charging the drive battery.
Renault had previously announced that a production variant of the Scenic Vision concept would grace the streets in 2024. It was expected to be built upon the CMF-EV platform, though it would likely bid farewell to the hydrogen range extender. As the stars align, all indicators point to the vehicle showcased in these exhilarating spy shots being none other than the highly anticipated manifestation of that very promise. The excitement mounts, and the countdown to its official unveiling begin.
